Major dog potty training problem (10 months old!) Please HELP?
I have a beautiful, loving 10 month old Rottweiler. Although she is big, she is still just a baby as far as dogs go. I obedience trained her very well as well as potty trained. It was a combo of crate training and consistent feeding , potty breaks and positive reinforcement. Just recently, she has started going #2 in the house! it has happened 3 times in the last week and she is doing it on our new area rug. When I find it, I don't yell, I say her name and she comes in and knows exactly what she did wrong- she makes a sad face and bolts upstairs. I know she knows its wrong, I just don't understand why she is doing it. We have a system and she even taps on the back door with her paw when she has to go, we go to our spot and I still praise her. She recently has not been able to go to doggie day care during the week because she has a canine papiloma (aka doggy warts), so during the day we leave her in the dining room with all of her toys and sticks and bed , etc and come home at lunch to walk and potty her. This has been happening on the weekends while she is getting a ton of attention and excercise. Can anyone give me a suggestion on what is going wrong? Is this common at 10 months? I can't think of anything and wonder if I should be concerned and more importantly, what I can do. I feel like a failure.
